Causes for low sex drive in women - Part 1

A woman’s sex drive is affected by a number of factors, including emotional and physical well being, lifestyle, current relationship, beliefs and experiences. If you have been having problems in even one of these areas, your desire for sex could be greatly affected. Learn about some of the common reasons why your sexual desire could be ebbing.

Physical causes of low sex drive

Low sex drive in women is caused by medications, physical changes as well as by a large number of illnesses. They include:

  • Prescription medications such as antidepressants and antihistamines as well as drugs for blood pressure and chemotherapy

  • Excessive alcohol intake and recreational drugs

  • Physical fatigue and exhaustion

  • Sexual problems such as dyspareunia (painful sex) or anorgasmia (inability to have an orgasm), infertility, even after the treatment is over

  • Medical (non-sexual) conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, neurological conditions and coronary artery disease

  • Surgery in the genital tract or breasts can have a negative impact on your self-esteem and affect sex drive

  1. My girlfriend suffered from this problem so called low libido. It made her so pity, she always cried and gets mad because of it. what can I do? what would be the cure for this?
